Final hand in

Rationale

Week 6 - Thursday

Lydia reflection

Throughout this paper I found the rapid ideation at the begining of this project very helpful, I took it more seriously than previous modules and found the value in it. It was also very interesting to start thinking about transmedia, and how different media outputs are good for different purposes. If I was to do this project again I would try and and develop a more creative way to present the flyer as the characters could have used in a fun way to communicate information other that a booklet, such as fridge magnets.

Averil reflection

I found it helpful when we drew a lot of thumbnails in a short amount of time ad this encouraged me to be more open and not think too hard about what im drawing. This resulted in me coming up with more ideas. The interim presentation were another thing I found helpful as this was a chance to gain really helpful feedback to imporve our designs. It was good to have different eyes look at our designs as they usually have helpful critique and suggestions. Next time I would like to push myself further and be more creative especially with the flyer. I want to be more open and go outside of the box a bit more.

Final adjustments

Since Mondays session we have adjusted small things on our flyer. We made some of the text bigger and tidied up some of illustrations as well as added some shadows to the characters to stop them looking like they were floating on the page.

For our final poster we changed the background to have curved edges so that it tied in with the shapes in our flyer and website.

When made small adjustments to our website by making some of the text larger to make it easier to read. We also made the top image larger to make it more engaging when the website is first entered.

Rethink of reverse brief

Week 6

Throughout the development of this project we have realised targeting only young flatters excluded too many people. We felt we we wanted to make the event more inclusive and fun for everyone which is why we have chosen this idea of 'the perfect team' and have used characters. This idea makes our event more family orientated but doesn't exclude other people, like young flatters and anyone else who might want to join in.

Mobile Layout

Week 6

We have moved onto thinking about our mobile layout for the website as we have pretty much completed the website. We have put everything in one line and made sure everything is big enough to see and 'click'. We just need to put it on invision and include interactive aspects like the website

Finalising!

Week 6 - Monday

We have been adding final touches to our poster and flyer and they are now almost completed!
We have altered things like colours and the style of our characters to make everything stand out and look more engaging. We have lightened the blue colour to make the flyer look softer and made the icons all white to look more consistant. We have made the cover have curved edges like the poster and used only 3 characters accross the covers as this looks stronger. We have focussed a lot on making the characters on the inside look as if they relate to the text to make each page fun and engaging.

Once we imported our website in to invision, we realised the scale wasn't right, because we put bottoms on each of our pages they got cut off at the bottom, which made it hard to read. Because of this we have re-organised the layout to make each page flow together better.

Refining everything

Week 5 - Thursday

We have split the workload so one of us is working on the flyer, and one the website while we both are working on the poster taking on board the feedback from the second interim. Everything is slowly falling into place as it is becoming clearer what is working well. In preperation for todays we printed out the refined flyer and poster, and have developed on the website a lot more to make it consistent with out theme.

Our analysis of our feedback from interim was that our poster needs more detail to help it look more fun and engaging. We have palyed around with adding more detail on to the mustard and tomatoe sauce and using scale to help the poster become more eye catching.

The flyer has been altered quite a bit since the interim presentation. We have decided to ditch the 10 step guide as we thought this worked better on the website and replace this with en emergency household checklist. We have thought more adding in characters to make the flyer fit with our theme better, although we aren't sure is they are quite right just yet. We have made everything more consistent like the text and colours. We have also thought more about the front and back cover and made these connect more. There is some more refining to be done with the flyer and we will continue to fix things up.

Week 5 interim assessment

We recieved some really helpful feedback from our class today.

  •  Most people said they understand the concept and it look friendly and cute, which is what we are going for.
  • We got the feedback that the poster is a bit simple and flat, so we are going to try ways to make it a bit more engaging.
  • Our illustration needs more detail.
  • Need more illustrated pairs.
  • Too many over rules in type and too much space on the poster.
  • Speech bubble on poster is coming from nowhere.
We agree with all this feedback, so moving forward we are going to tidy up the type and experiment with ways to bring more detail into our work.

Poster development

Week 4 Monday

We are continuing to play around with our rhetoric poster design, trying to make the style cohesive throughout the poster, website and flyer.

We both did a couple posters each playing around with the layout and colours of things. We've decided on our tape faces and main colour scheme which will be carried out throughout our designs. We will comtinue to play around with pairings and carry these throughout aswell.
